MALCOLM HEWITT
At 19 years of age, Malcolm is nearing the end of his Photography studies at Sunshine Coast TAFE. Since Malcolm was a child he has been fascinated by the theoretical limits of one photograph. What started out as frustration soon became a land of opportunity to capture a greater story in one image, and paved way for his style to develop. He is inspired by photographers who he believes are skilful in the delicate understanding and usage of light, including Nejat Talas, Joey L, Sven Prim and David LaChapelle. Their knowledge and application of lighting techniques is a quality that Malcolm admires and is striving to attain.
While perusing photography Malcolm also operates a FujiFilm Photofinishing Lab in his home town on the Sunshine Coast. His knowledge and love for photographic printing has inspired his vision to create high quality photographs. Malcolm regards photography as not only a medium for capturing moments, decisive or indecisive, but a lifestyle choice that dominates and controls the mind and soul. Malcolm’s aim is to continue pursuing his passion for photography, particularly portraiture, in the future as his knowledge and creativity develops.
